Wonderful purple at the lovely Le Rivage Hotel

May 27, 2010   //   by Shannon   //   Blog  //  1 Comment

I do work at other wedding venues than Le Rivage, here in Sacramento, Ca.  I swear.  I just had three weddings right in a row at the lovely Le Rivage Hotel situated on the Sacramento River.

Purple is SO hot this year!  I love it.  I am in awe of the callas in Erin’s bridal bouquet.  Picasso calla is verigated with a cream edge and a dark purple throat.  Night Cat is a true royal purple color.  So rare in the floral world.  Lots of other pretties in this bouquet too- peonies, sweet peas, cymbidium orchids and lisianthus.  *sigh*

The bridesmaids’ bouquet were a brighter version of what our bride, Erin carried.  The flower in the foreground that looks like a purple rose is lisianthus.  Stunning, right?

One of the reasons I love Le Rivage so much is the river front ceremony site.  Sacramento’s nickname is “The River City”.  It is so fitting to be married right on the Sacramento River.

We draped our aisle stands and ceremony vases in champagne fabric, I love the way it looks.  So romantic.  The aisle vases and ceremony arrangements were moved inside after the ceremony to be used as additional decor in the reception room.

Our Groom, Chris is an Architect by trade.  So we opted for a very structured but interesting centerpiece.  This was the first look.

I loved the way the gold wire added a little gleam to the centerpieces.

Sacramento wedding at Le Rivage Hotel

Juanita and Kevin’s wedding and reception took place on the banks of the Sacramento River at The Le Rivage Hotel.  Le Rivage is one of my absolutely favorite places to work. The scenery- to die for… the staff- courteous and efficient… the food by Scott’s Seafood- nom nom!

Juanita and I planned all the flowers and designs via phone and e-mail because the happy couple calls Seattle home.  I only met Juanita once about a month before the big day.

Beth Baugher with True Love Photo was on hand that day to capture all the amazingness.  Funny note- Juanita hired Beth and I independent of each other after liking the work on our respective websites.  Little did she know Beth and I are hetero-sexual life partners (Jay and Silent Bob, anyone?) and when you work with us both you get a nick-name, whether you like it or not.  ”Juanita la Isla Bonita” was born.

I know this is not a new idea- but I think it is so great when a bride gives their maids a color and the lets them pick a dress they love.

I loved the way the pomander for the flower girl turned out.

Check out the view!  It is truly amazing at Le Rivage’s ceremony site especially when the cooling Delta Breezes make an appearance.

Le Rivage has these super cute cruisers for their guests to take a spin down the river’s levee.  Makes for great pics too!

Loved their cake!  The peacock on top of the cake was all handmade by Freeport Bakery and it was amazing!

More Sacramento weddings means more wedding flower pictures!

Just a couple of bridal bouquets from a couple of weeks ago.  Every once in a while I do smaller weddings where the family picks up the flowers rather than pay for delivery and set-up.  It works out great for a smaller event!

Sweet peas, calla, roses, hydrangea, lisianthus and Bells of Ireland made up this classic bridal bouquet.  I love the fresh and pretty color combo.

The pink roses in this bouquet are called Esperance.  They are a lovely, fully petaled rose.  I love using them for soft and garden inspired bridal bouquets.

Sacramento Wedding- Classic Christmas wedding

May 5, 2010   //   by Shannon   //   Blog  //  2 Comments

Spring has sprung all around us here in Sacramento.  The weather is amazing, warm and breezy and truly perfect.  But as soon as I put the disc I received from The Memory Journalists into MacAttack (yes, my computer has a name) my thoughts and heart were back at Christmas time.  The wedding reception of Stacey and Mark took place on December 27th at the The Hyatt in downtown Sacramento.  It was a warm and romantic affair filled with candlelight and laughter and of course, amazing flowers.

I loved Stacey’s hair band.  It was a little gold bow- so perfect for her and the season.

We added a smidgen of red berries and gold branches to the bridesmaids’ bouquets just to give them a little “pop”.

Stacey’s bouquet consisted of three varieties of roses, Vendela, Sahara and Blizzard and was accented with wisps of cedar and eucalyptus berries.  I also added a few buds of Snowflake chrysanthemum.

I loved the theme of the reception, The 12 days of Christmas.  Instead of traditional table numbers they placed decorative plates, each depicting one of the 12 days, on the guest tables.  The centerpieces consisted of hydrangea, football chrysanthemum, dusty miller, roses, carnations, stock, eucalyptus, sugar pine and just a touch of gold branches and red hypericum berries.

The head table was a round table mixed in with the other round guest tables.  We placed a low floating dish in the center of the table filled with candles, pearls, red gems and floating flowers.  The empty vases placed around the centerpiece were waiting to hold the bridal party’s bouquets after they made their entrance.

Sacramento wedding season is in full swing!

May Day was a busy day for weddings here in the Sacramento area.  We designed the flowers for two weddings- one at Serrano Country Club in El Dorado Hills and one at Le Rivage Hotel in Sacramento, Ca.  Our brides and grooms were blessed with some seriously perfect weather and some gorgeous blooms!

I will try and be more consistent with my blogging for Flourish.  I have been so busy blogging for my new site, Fancy Pants Weddings.  If you haven’t read it yet what are you waiting for??  Trip the light fantastic on over there and take a look!  But check out all the flowery yumminess here first.

This amazing bouquet consisted of Schwarzwalder callas, dahlias, Hot Princess roses, stock, carnations and dendrobium orchids.  The bride provided me a brooch to attach to the handle of the bouquet.  LOVE it!  The flowers aren’t usually so glossy.  I had just sprayed them with a finishing spray (it dries matte) right before I took the picture.

Le Rivage Sacramento, Ca

Half the guest tables at Le Rivage Hotel had these tall arrangements with hanging candles and peacock feathers.  I can’t wait to get better pictures of the wedding reception.  My awesome photographer buddy, Rachelle Photography was on the case capturing all the wedding day pretties.  When I get the pro-pics I will be sure to share.

The other half of the guest tables featured low arrangements.  I just loved the saturated jewel-tones of both events.  I am so happy to be back in the designing swing of things!
